Happy New Year 2025!
Hello Edison parents,
Happy New Year! I hope your children are having a restful and joyful winter break! As we return to school for the second half of the year, we are excited to continue the learning journey with your child.
This time of year is a great opportunity to reinforce the importance of routines and consistent attendance. We encourage you to ensure your child is ready and eager to learn each day, as attendance is crucial for academic success. Routine helps children feel secure, allowing them to focus on their studies, personal growth and supporting the "whole child". Speaking of routines, I'm including our Fantastic Four Expectations to review with your child before we return on Monday, January 6th. We will review these schoolwide expectations at school as this is best practice after returning from any break. It is important for children to understand what is expected of them behaviorally throughout the building in order to provide a safe and positive learning environment for all.
As we move forward, I want to remind everyone of our commitment to our dual language model. Learning both Spanish and English is a valuable skill that will serve your child for a lifetime. Please continue to support them at home by encouraging them to practice and celebrate their progress in both languages. Reading to (and with) your child every night for 20 minutes in either language is such a benefit to their success and linguistic journey!
We are also entering cold and flu season, so we ask that you be mindful of your child’s health. If your child is feeling unwell (especially if running a fever, vomiting or diarreah), please keep them home to rest and recover. Together, we can minimize the spread of illness and ensure our school remains a healthy and productive environment.
Additionally, I'm including the link to January's lunch menu in case you are interested. The students and staff are always excited for Pozole day (January 15th)! Fun fact (and in my humble opinion), our head cook, Maria Alonso, makes the BEST pozole in all of Walla Walla! 😍
We are proud of your child’s hard work and encourage them to continue trying their best in both languages. Let’s make the second half of the school year even more successful than the first, and thank you for your ongoing support. Can't wait to see your student on Monday, 1/6/25!
Warm regards,
