Edison Student Learning Goals

Edison's learning goals establish improved learning standards and academically challenging programs for our students, as defined in the Walla Walla School District Strategic Plan. The vision of Edison Elementary School is to develop Washington's most sought-after graduates. In addition, Edison's mission (in alignment with our district mission) is to ensure all students receive high quality instruction in an aligned and coherent system while addressing their social and emotional needs in a safe and engaging environment.

Highlights of activities, instructional strategies, and professional development supporting our goals include:

  • Common Planning Time for staff to meet and plan together
  • Involving Parents with "Read at Home" Programs
  • Dual Language Program for Kindergarten-5th grade
  • One-on-one and small group reading support through Title I and LAP reading program
  • K-5 Accelerated Reader Program
  • Utilize student results on district, state, and national assessment data for instructional planning
  • Teachers have recently received language acquisition and technology training
