Back to School Schedule - English
Hello Edison families,
I want to reiterate the importance of our back-to-school schedule that was sent home in your child’s tote last week. It is important to note that our first 2 weeks of school is dedicated to creating and building relationships among teachers and students, ensuring technology is working for all students, and learning classroom routines and procedures for this distance learning model. All students will be required to attend both of their synchronous times with their homeroom teacher and to click onto the links for their PE and Music classes from their homeroom teacher’s Google Classroom. According to the asterisk next to several asynchronous lessons and times, students will start their Social Studies and Science classes through Edgenuity during week 3. Raz Kids and iReady lessons may become available during week 2, but again, this is a slow roll out of instructional time. We want to make sure students are comfortable and ready to engage with technology during asynchronous times.
For parents with children particularly in the dual language model, emotions will be high and low these next two weeks for all as we learn to re-engage with dual language instruction through distance learning. Teachers comprehend the importance of making sure your child’s language acquisition in both languages is accessible and understandable. There will be times children will be frustrated, excited, tired and perhaps, overwhelmed by their learning experiences. The more we as adults can reassure children that this is normal and encourage children to remain patient and calm with themselves, their teachers and classmates, the better we will help our children know that we are all learning together.
Thank you for your partnership to make this the best situation possible for your child.
